'NGPC' Kunio-kun

The hot-blooded tough guy, Kunio-Kun. Who isn't a fan of this guy? He's the star of some of the best games to ever hit the Famicom (and NES, and SuFami, and Neo-Geo, and GBA, and DS, etc. etc.) and has knocked down delinquent after delinquent to keep his school, friends and city safe.

He's also very athletic and is known to compete in various sports (his favorite being dodgeball).

Now some of you may be thinking, "Wasn't his name Alex? Or was it Crash?"
Well, you'd be sorta right. Alex was his name in the localized version of Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari, what we know here in the western world as River City Ransom. In the GBA remake of DNM, they kept the original sprites, but used the localized names in the US release, so it's easy to get em' mixed up if you haven't played the other games.

As for the Crash thing: Ever heard of Crash n' the Boys? That game was a localized version of a Nekketsu Track and Field title I'm too lazy to find the title for right now. Kunio was renamed Crash and his buddy Riki was renamed Crusher.

This sprite is a bit of a tribute to him and his series. I used a shading style similar to Shodai Nekketsu Kunio-Kun for the Super Famicom.

Fun Fact: I almost gave Kunio Riki's hair while spiting him. It took me about a half hour before realizing it.
